Adidas has officially reached an out-of-court settlement with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, bringing an end to all ongoing legal proceedings between them. The sportswear giant made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming that no money changed hands in the agreement.
"There aren't any more open issues, and there is no... money going either way, and we both move on,"
Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden stated during a conference call with reporters. He declined to provide additional details about the settlement but emphasized the resolution of all disputes.
The relationship between Adidas and Ye had faced multiple tensions over the past year, with a series of disputes that included the termination of their collaborative partnership following Ye's controversial public statements. However, according to Gulden, both parties ultimately decided that it was time to put these issues to rest.
"There were tensions on many issues, and... when you put the claims on the right side and you put the claims on the left side, both parties said we don't need to fight anymore and withdrew all the claims,"
Gulden explained, underscoring the mutual decision to end the legal battle.
This settlement marks the closure of a turbulent chapter for Adidas, who had worked with Ye on the highly successful Yeezy brand, which had brought in significant revenue for both parties before the fallout. Although the partnership ended last year, speculation about legal claims from both sides had persisted, casting a shadow over the potential futures of both brands.
With this settlement, Adidas and Ye appear ready to move forward independently, without further legal entanglements. This development will likely have implications for both Adidas's brand strategy and Ye's next creative ventures, but for now, both sides have agreed to simply move on.
