Ye shocked fans across the globe today with his announcement that his upcoming album, Donda 2, will be available exclusively on STEM PLAYER.
Posting the announcement along with a snippet of new music to his Instagram page, Ye stated that his reason behind the exclusivity being the amount of money artists receive from the music industry, claiming they only see around 12% back. He also stated that he "...turned down a $100 million deal from Apple", and that as an artist, should set his own price for his art.
The STEM PLAYER effects are utilized throughout the snippet video, showcasing what the device is capable of - this includes isolating specific stems, altering the volume and adding reverb effects.
Ye posted another video to Instagram which featured a snippet from his recently released single with Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys, 'City of Gods'. The track was being played and altered on a STEM PLAYER in real time, and Ye mentions that the devices are currently being produced at a rate of 3,000 a day.
We also got our first look at the tracklist for Donda 2 based on an Instagram post from Ye. The project appears to be 22 songs long, and does not include mentions of any feature artists - though Ye has been seen working in the studio with various other artists recently.
Donda 2 is expected to release on February 22nd 2022, and will be supported by a live event set to take place at Miami's LoanDepot Park Stadium.
The STEM PLAYER can be purchased over on the official website at a retail price of $200.
